Harry Potter

The Half Blood Prince was awesome. The first 10 minutes alone are enough to recommend this film. The special effects are so over the top. It's like riding a roller coaster.

I forgot many aspects of the story, like who the Half Blood Price is, which made the movie even more intriguing.

While reading the books, I always imagine the setting as dated like from a different century, so watching the film, which is set in modern times, added a new twist that I liked.

Let me know what y'all thought of the movie!!

T minus 60 Minutes

Today is the day!! Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince hit theaters. Usually, I don't really care about seeing the movies. The books are enough to satisfy my Potter cravings.

Until now...

The Half Blood Prince is filled with so many plot twists and turns; it's enough to make anyone tear their clothes off and run around the park, or at least enough to abandon usual anti-Potter movies ideals.

I'm so pumped to see this story unfold on screen. And it's been a good four years since I read the book, so hopefully, the plot will seem fresh.

Oh god, I can't wait. Another post to follow!!

Lazy Saturday

I woke up this morning to a down pour. Outside my window, rain was hitting the air conditioner unit so hard that it sounded like gun shots. Yeah, that's not the most ideal sound to wake-up to in the morning!

Then, I went into the bathroom and discovered the open window. Guess what was on the seal--my make up! Everything got drenched even the toilet paper.

So here is my predicament: It's mid-July and it's raining. What am I supposed to do on a rainy-summer day?

Give up? Yeah, me too! I think I will indulge in some TV. Maybe a little The Suite Life of Zach and Cody and Hannah Montana. Today is starting to look up!

Together or Not Together?

So, you all know Kristen Stewart and Robert Patterson, right? There both from the Twilight movie series, which I love by the way.

Actually, I'm surprised I've never posted about the series. Currently, I'm reading New Moon. So far it's fantastic. FYI: I just started it, but I plan to keep you updated on the resent plot twists

But here is what I'm wondering: Are Kristen Stewart and Robert Patterson dating off screen? I hope they are. They seem like they would make a perfect couple.

In honesty, I want Robert Patterson for my self. I day dream of meeting him on the streets of New York. He instantly falls in love with me, and I pretend that he is not famous and have zero clue that he is in my favorite movie.

Oh, that would be my dream...

So, do y'all think they are together? and do you have a secrete crush on Robert Patterson too?

Nepalese Please!!!

OMG, my ultra cool step-sister graduated from college and went on an out-of-this-world excursion to the country of Nepal.
She is a mountain woman now, but still sees life through the eyes of the west. Below, she explores Nepalese fashion:

Even at the top of the mountains, in these insubstantial mud huts, where there was no running water or electricity, things we not only expect but demand, where washing is done in the freezing cold stream, where food must be hunted for, then skinned with bare hands, where essentially, people have nothing….what these people do have and must be wholeheartedly credited with, is beautiful clothes.

But it is not only the juxtaposition of the poverty of the situation around them which makes these clothes stand out, it is the amazing colours, the layers, the fabrics. I don't know anything about the intricacies of fashion, but I know these gals have got it right. But what really got me thinking extended beyond the clothes elegantly draped on their bodies. In the surrounding rice and cornfields, where the clothes were drying freshly washed from the river, was an abundance of colours that brought this little village to life. Bright, confident, confrontational colours. Here, it is all about colour, and colour they wear with pride.

So what got me thinking is how has the colour black become our staple fashion food.
But what does wearing the
colour black reflect about us? About our society? Our state of mind?

Fashion, it is said, and I agree is an external projection of the internal, a tangible expression of the subconscious.

We could argue we have shit weather. But they have a shit economy, shit health, shit education, an altogether harder and demanding life. We who have everything, shy away in the statement less statement black dress. Nepal is the 13th poorest country in the world and they can still muster up some colour in their wardrobe. But even more than that, they take pride in themselves, in their lives by taking advantage of the beautiful colours available to them. They value their bodies and in doing so worship it with colour.

I'm out of money, and I'm entering my well known silent vacant stage where the point of my still being awake becomes highly debatable. But before I lose all power of speech, what I’d like to conclude is a confirmation of all my previous affirmations, money can’t buy style, grace, beauty, and fundamentally it can’t but happiness. A big statement to make?

What do you think of when you think of the colour yellow, green blue?

What do we think of when we think of the colour black?

In our western society it is associated with sadness, mourning and ultimately death.

My Chill Life

Break Down of Friday Morning:

1:00 Wake up
1:00-1:30 Stare at ceiling
1:35 Get out of bed and walk to kitchen
1:36 Make strawberry banana smoothie
1:40 Make toast and peanut butter
1:45-2:00 Eat
2:00 Write blog post about morning

This is my summer life. Well, my summer life until my mom finds out that I'm not doing anything productive and she enrolls me into a summer camp.

Last summer, I had to do cheer leading. Don't get me wrong, I love watching UCA Cheer Competitions on ESPN, but spending my summer days in the basement cafeteria of my middle school learning cheers is not my ideal way to spend time.

I never make any friends at those things. Part because I have to get up early and walk to school, which puts me in an horrific mood; part because the basement cafeteria smells atrocious, and I am constantly trying not to vomit all over the pom pons; part because I hate everyone, and part because I would rather be at home in my basement watching cheer competitions on ESPN than actually cheering in real life.

My mom doesn't understand that watching TV and eating is actually an enjoyable experience. I think she assumes that I am lonely, but actually, I am having the time of my life.

But I know she wont buy it, so this summer, I am going to beat her to the punch and research cool summer camps. That way, I can suggest to her a summer camp before she takes initiative and enrolls me in summer knitting.

I'll keep you posted on the cool camps I come across. In the mean time, I'll be making smoothies.

Music is Alive

Yesterday, my sister Lindsay and I had to run some errands for my mum. She's throwing a party on Friday night for all of her "posh" art friends. Ughhh...I hate her parties because she always kicks me out of the house, and I have to spend the evening at my Dad's watching reruns of M*A*S*H.

On the way to the grocery store (we had to get ingredients for hummus. My mum doesn't even eat hummus, but I guess she wants to impress her friends) my sister was listening to this awesome album on her iPod.

I always like it when I get to ride along with her in her cool car. It makes me feel really important like I'm doing something special or something. Plus, she always plays the coolest music, and after, I can impress my friends (I guess I'm more like my mum than I thought) with my new music stylings.

In this case, we were listening to Lily Allens's first album titled Alright, Still. My favorite song is "Smile." It has this cool reggae-beach vibe that I really dig. This album is great for summer days by the pool, or when you are getting ready after a shower.

Lily Allen is my new favorite!! My sister said that she released a new album in February called It's Not Me, It's You, which I'm sure would be worth checking out. I have yet to do so, but it the mean time I will be straightening my hair to "Smile!"

I added the video for "Smile". I hope you enjoi!! <3 Rhonda
